Katharina Van Cauteren

Professor Dr Katharina Van Cauteren (1981) studied art history at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven), where in 2010 she defended a PhD thesis on the Brussels painter Hendrick De Clerck (1560-1630) and his relationship with the Brussels court. That research subsequently led to an exhibition and a whopper of a book. It was not her first exhibition. Katharina has curated numerous exhibitions in Belgium and abroad. She took Rubens to India for the first time, took Jan Van Eyck to the Netherlands, and with fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck she celebrated the 350th anniversary of the Antwerp Academy. Today Katharina teaches at Antwerp University and may call herself 'chief of staff' of the chancelleryof The Phoebus Foundation, where she is curator of the Old Masters collection.
